What is a baseline Ultrasound?
Baseline ultrasound is a transvaginal ultrasound typically performed at the beginning of the menstrual cycle to evaluate the uterus and ovaries before fertility treatment or testing. It can help assess the uterine lining, identify ovarian cysts or other findings, and count the small antral follicles in the ovaries. A baseline ultrasound is often used alongside bloodwork and other fertility tests to help your fertility specialist understand your reproductive health and determine the appropriate next steps.
